How often have we lamented over not being able to find just the right pair of shoes, boots, heels, sandals, wedges, sling-backs, etc., etc., etc.? “All too often”…, I can hear you muttering. Or once the find that perfect fashionable footwear design, the sticker shock makes us absolutely apoplectic. Well, never again will we fashionistas have to endure that kind of shopping torture.

Milk & Honey Shoes to the rescue. Dorian Howard and her older sister Ilissa love designer shoes so much that they quit their days jobs to dig their fashionable heels into a new business that combines women’s insatiable appetite for chic stilettos with our every-growing passion for DIY. DIY = Design It Yourself!

¬†On a recent segment of CNBC’s Power Pitch, in that 60 second television formatted segment, Dorian talked about why the sisters founded the start-up, Milk & Honey. The company was founded to let shoe buyers to create their own custom shoe from heel to toe.

Some of the footwear options include color, material, heel heights, toe shapes, straps, and embellishments. Their styles range from flats to stilettos.

Milk & Honey delivers the shoes to you in approximately 6-8 weeks with prices ranging from $149 for flats to $249 for heels. Their generous 365-day return policy (as long as the shoe hasn’t been worn) keeps their customer loyal and coming back again and again.

Their shoe customization is entrepreneurial at this point, and Dorian pointed out that many luxury brands, such as Louis Vuitton and Burberry are beginning to offer footwear design styles with some customizable options.

The fabulous sisters have also recruited celebrities like Kathie Lee Gifford, Wendy Williams, and Hoda Kotb to design their own shoes. The shoe designs are then put up on the site for sale with 100% of the proceeds going to a charity of the celebrity’s choice.

Ready, set, let’s go shoe shopping.
