Sporty shoe comfort. Footwear designed, athletic shoes. Tennis shoes, trainers, espadrille sneakers, skimmer sneakers, high-top sneakers, cuff-studded sneakers. Where and when does it stop? Let’s hope the answer is “never”.
Whether it’s Isabel Marant’s wedge trainers or Kanye West’s “Yeezys”, sporty footwear is high on everybody’s fashion-forward, shoe shopping list. Not only that–but athletic shoes have become high collectibles, as well as prized enough to be exhibited.
Wish you could have seen some of the rarest shoes in the world recently at the Sneaking Into Fashion exhibition with Javari.co.uk. From Beyonce to students on campus, high tops are everywhere. They’re moved from the category of trendy to the mainstay of classic. The London exhibition explores trainers through the ages and their role in modern culture.
Lady GaGa loves her Jeffrey Campbell shoes–these heel-less trainers from the exhibition. If you’re the type of style queen that she is, then I suppose they’re a must-have in your shoe wardrobe.
So what’s available in the shoe market for us this season because we’re so inspired by the athletic shoe London exhibit? Here are a few of my current favorites:
Macy’s carries this Boutique 9 coral, cuff-studded sneaker. $180.
Such a fancy pair of everyday kicks is the MICHAEL by Michael Kors. Urban studded, high-top sneakers that feature a lace-up closure and shiny metallic detail along the toe. Talk about sassy. Fist-pumping yes!
Play up your preppy side with this pair of Lacoste MARTHE 5 skimmer sneakers. Cool canvas and that adorable trademark alligator will offset any outfit. $42.
Bloomingdale’s carries this Chloe. It’s a hallmark, statement-making style on the must-have sneaker list that takes the high-top to high fashion. Italian suede and leather with a 3.75″ wedge. $825.
Ready, set, let’s go sneaker shopping.
